An evening of new short works created by the company (Title to be announced).
Theater Grottesco is creating 10 new short works that bust the boundaries of theatrical transition. Each ensemble member will create a new piece inspired by a personal interest or passion. Artistic Director John Flax will guide the creation process, curate, and blend the pieces into a cohesive whole, creating transitions between the pieces and a world that can hold and elevate the work.
Grottesco's last evening of short works: Keyholes, a critical success, was set in a circus ring. Three major Grottesco productions began as short pieces (The Angels' Cradle, 1993, This is Life As We Know it..., 2001 and Grottesco's 12th Night, 2008). Several of the 2010 pieces will be laboratories for new full length works. Expect blending of dance and theater along with strong doses of humor and imagery.
